Prevent Pests from Invading Your Landscaping

Hello Spring! By now, you've probably noticed all the colorful plants, flowers and trees on the sidewalk of almost every storefront. It's one of the first signs of spring and it brings us joy when we see the fresh blooms. But, before you head to the checkout line, take a few minutes to check the plants for any sign of pest problems.

Preventing pest problems is essential for effective integrated pest management. Start by ensuring your plants are healthy and clean. Remember, pests often thrive when plants are stressed from improper watering, light, or fertilization. Prevent these issues by following the care guidelines listed for the plant.

Take note of what pests or diseases are likely to affect your plants. What pests are common in your landscape? If you've had problems in previous years, you might already know what to expect. Study these pests and think about implementing preventative measures now.

Common pests to watch for include;

  • Spider Mites

  • Bagworms

  • Lacebugs
